Hyundai

Hyundai Motor Company entered the Chinese market in 2002 through a joint venture with Beijing Automotive Group, forming Beijing Hyundai. Initially successful, Hyundai rapidly expanded its presence, becoming one of China’s top-selling foreign automakers.

The company introduced models like the Mufasa SUV specifically for the Chinese market and plans to launch a China-exclusive EV brand.

Hyundai Motor company is investing in new technologies, expanding its SUV lineup, and exploring partnerships to regain market share. Hyundai aims to leverage its global expertise while catering to local preferences in this crucial market.

CVVD (Continuously Variable Valve Duration)

Hyundai’s Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) is an innovative engine technology that optimizes valve control. This system adjusts the duration of valve opening and closing based on driving conditions, unlike traditional variable valve technologies that only modify timing or lift. CVVD operates by using a unique cam and sliding mechanism to alter valve duration between 150° and 290° crank angle, effectively changing the compression ratio from 4:1 to 10.5:1.

CVVD improves engine performance by 4%, fuel efficiency by 5%, and reduces emissions by 12%. It enhances low-end torque and provides better acceleration while maintaining efficiency at constant speeds. The technology also promotes quicker catalytic converter warm-up, reducing harmful emissions on startup. These improvements result in a more responsive, economical, and environmentally friendly driving experience without compromising performance.

E-GMP Platform

Hyundai’s E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) is a dedicated electric vehicle platform featuring advanced technologies. It includes a multi-charging system compatible with both 400V and 800V charging, a large-capacity battery offering up to 500km range, and a compact Power Electric System. The platform’s design allows for a flat floor and flexible interior configurations, while its ultra-high-strength steel frame enhances safety.

Users benefit from reduced charging times, with the ability to charge up to 80% in just 18 minutes. The platform’s efficiency extends driving range and improves performance, allowing for acceleration from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds. E-GMP also offers Vehicle-to-Load functionality, enabling users to power external devices. The spacious interior and enhanced safety features provide a more comfortable and secure driving experience.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology

Hyundai’s Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology is an advanced clean energy system that powers vehicles by converting hydrogen into electricity. The process occurs in a fuel cell stack, where hydrogen from high-pressure tanks reacts with oxygen from the air, generating electricity and water vapor as the only byproduct. This technology is the result of over 20 years of research and development, positioning Hyundai as a leader in hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Fuel cell vehicles offer zero emissions, contributing to cleaner air and reduced environmental impact. They provide long driving ranges (up to 380 miles) with quick refueling times of about five minutes, comparable to conventional gas vehicles. Additionally, fuel cell systems offer high efficiency (up to 62%) and can be applied beyond automobiles to various clean power generation needs, potentially transforming multiple industries towards sustainability.
